this brilliant piece by Dana Birnbaum was my favorite, at my favorite show of 2009, The Pictures Generation (1974-1984) at The Met.  it is a clear reflection of the birth of extended disco edits and early hip hop taking place in the late 70s. thank you Hyperallergic for posting.
