A new Harris Interactive survey, commissioned by mobile marketing technology provider Velti, finds that nearly 60% of mobile phone users who also plan to watch this year’s Super Bowl will look at or use their mobile device during the game. 83% of viewers who plan to use their mobile phones expect to access their device more than they did during last year’s Super Bowl. 30% of viewers under the age of 45 will watch the game with their device in hand, and 47% of viewers over the age of 18 say they expect to use their mobile device up to 10 times during the game. However, that doesn’t mean they won’t be watching the game. The survey also found that only 13% of viewers who plan to use their mobile device will do so during game play. In comparison, 26% say they are likely to use their phones during commercial breaks.
